
Salma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jimmyenezon September 2, 1966)[3][4][5[3][4][5]) is an American and Mexican actress. She began her career in Mexico with leading roles in the television drama Teresa (1989-1991) as in the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995), for which she received an Ariel Award nomination. With roles in films like Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999) In 1999, she quickly made her mark as a star in Hollywood. Hayek's performance as Frida the painter in Frida (2002) the film that she also directed, resulted in Hayek the first Mexican actress to be awarded the Academy Award [6]. The film also brought her the Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as well as British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to make films her films, and also starred in action-oriented film Once Upon a Time in Mexico later on in her career.
